Intro from an Arkansas Life interview with Kendra

For more than a decade, she’s worked behind the scenes at The Women’s Project, Living Affected Corp., Southerners on New Ground, and Better Community Development. In each role, she worked for what she believes in most: equality.
But when she heard that the Human Rights Campaign was planning an increased presence in Arkansas, Johnson was quick to step from behind the curtains and apply to lead the charge.

Since her hiring was announced in late July, Johnson has worked to establish the HRC Arkansas office, part of the organization’s Project One America, a multiyear campaign to strengthen lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality in the South through new offices in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.
