YNPN is about helping young professionals prepare to lead the nonprofit/public service sector and create positive change in our community.  Our professional development events are designed specifically to meet the needs (and budget constraints) of emerging leaders. Whether it’s a brown-bag discussion of the occupational outlook for young people in the nonprofit field or a training seminar on board development, we look for ways to bring you low-cost, high-quality programming relevant to your career path.

Here is more information about the types of Professional Development committees you can serve on. 

Professional Development Committees

  • You can serve on all of these or on just one of them. You will learn budgeting, event planning, time management, how to communicate as YNPN Little Rock, and the inner workings of a nonprofit.

Coffee With An Expert - 6 events per year

  • This committee will meet 2 times per year in person and then as needed. Communication through email is a requirement and timely professional response is required. We will plan the first 3 events at the first meeting and the next 3 at the following meeting. If we can plan all 6 at the first meeting, that would be ideal. The dates and times are already selected. We need to select a location and speakers for each event. Attendance at 4 of the 6 CWE’s is appreciated. 

Cocktails With An Expert - 6 events per year

  • This committee should meet 2 times per year in persons and then as needed. Communication through email is a requirement and timely professional response is required. We will plan the first 3 at the first meeting and the next 3 at the following meeting. If we can plan all 6 at the first meeting, that would be ideal. The dates and times have been selected. We need to select a location and speakers for each event. Attendance at 4 of the 6 CWE’s  is appreciated. 

Other Professional Development Events

  • This committee will meet 2 times to plan larger PD events for YNPN LR. We will plan these events based on the needs of the YNPN LR membership. Dates and times for these events have yet to be determined.

20 over 20 Committee (max 5 people)

  • This committee will meet 3 times between February and September. The awards will be presented at CEO Talk Show in October. We will be deciding on the nomination form, questions, and selection process. If you serve on this committee and are then also on the 20 over 20 selection committee, you will not be eligible to receive the 20 over 20 awards, but you can still be nominated.
